The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) is a statutory body established under the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993, responsible for protecting and promoting human rights in India through investigations, research, awareness programmes, and policy recommendations.

Post Details
The National Human Rights Commission is inviting applications for its Winter Internship Programme 2026. The programme provides students with practical exposure to human rights law, social sciences, research, public policy and the functioning of a national human rights institution.

The programme will include classroom sessions, interaction with NHRC officials, research projects, book reviews, discussions and field visits.

• Participate in classroom and academic sessions
• Undertake assigned human rights research projects
• Prepare research work and project submissions
• Participate in book reviews and group discussions
• Interact with NHRC officials and professionals
• Participate in field visits and related activities
• Study human rights issues and relevant legal and policy developments

• Students pursuing LL.B., integrated BA LL.B./BBA LL.B. or other 5-year law programmes
• LL.M. students may apply
• Students pursuing eligible Human Rights and Social Science programmes may also apply
• Minimum 60% marks in Class XII
• Minimum 60% marks in the first six semesters of the qualifying graduation/integrated course, wherever applicable
• Maximum age: 28 years as on 1 October 2026
• Course must be regular and from a UGC-recognised university
• Letter of Recommendation (LOR) is required
