UNICEF (United Nations Children’s Fund) is a UN agency established in 1946 to provide humanitarian and developmental aid to children worldwide. Operating in over 190 countries, it focuses on health, nutrition, education, and protection, with a 2024 income of US$8.26 billion, largely from governments. It works to protect child rights, particularly in emergencies.
The 2025 launch of the India – UN Global Capacity-Building Initiative further elevated India’s role by pairing Indian digital, health, skills and statistical innovations with demand from partner nations, accelerating SDG progress through structured exchanges, pilot projects and institutional partnerships. This evolving architecture positions India as a trusted knowledge provider, technical collaborator, and diplomatic bridge for the Global South – a trajectory that aligns closely with India’s own ambitions for Viksit Bharat 2047 and its expanding global development footprint.
