How to Apply

The Income Tax Department functions under the Ministry of Finance and is responsible for administration of direct tax laws in India. The Young Professional Scheme aims to strengthen departmental representation before the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal by engaging law and accountancy graduates in legal research and litigation support.

  • Legal research in tax litigation matters

  • Analysis of judgments relied upon by assessees

  • Identifying judgments in favour of the Department

  • Preparing briefing notes and written submissions

  • Assisting CIT (DR) / Senior DR in ITAT matters

  • Research on specific legal and tax issues

  • Indian National

  • Graduate / Postgraduate degree in Law (LLB / LLM) from a recognized university or Chartered Accountant

  • Minimum 50% marks in LLB / LLM

  • Age not exceeding 35 years as on date of advertisement

  • Preference given to candidates with research experience in taxation

  • Candidates must submit the offline application form along with required documents to the specified Income Tax Department office before the deadline.
