The Legal Centre for History of South India (LCHSI), Tamil Nadu National Law University (TNNLU), Tiruchirappalli, is organizing a Two-Day National Conference on “Legal History of Tamil Nadu” on 25–26 September 2026 in online mode. The conference aims to encourage scholarly engagement with the legal history, institutions, and traditions of Tamil Nadu and South India.
About the Organiser
The Legal Centre for History of South India (LCHSI) is a research centre established at TNNLU with support from the Government of Tamil Nadu. The Centre promotes research on legal history through conferences, seminars, workshops, publications, and the collection of historical legal materials relating to South India and the Tamil region.
About the Conference
The conference seeks to revisit and reinterpret the legal history of Tamil Nadu by examining legal ideas, institutions, judicial practices, and legal developments from ancient, medieval, colonial, and modern periods. It aims to provide a platform for historians, legal scholars, practitioners, and students to contribute to the growing field of Indian legal history.
